Somebody call Jarvis because Agent Carter’s got a new mission: makeup!
Besame Cosmetics shared a cryptic message on its site and a teaser on Instagram on Tuesday to announce that its upcoming collection inspired by the old-school spy will drop during the week of April 23 (the same week Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 is slated to hit theaters), offering 24-hour notice to those who subscribed to the brand’s email list. The release date comes after months of eager anticipation since the brand initially announced the collaboration last year with no details on what would be included in the makeup menagerie.
It’s a pretty big deal for Marvel fans who have missed seeing the agent’s weekly adventures since the show’s cancellation in 2016. Peggy Carter first shined on screen alongside Captain America in his first solo film in the Marvel Universe franchise, subsequently popping up in Captain America: Winter Soldier, Ant-Man, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and ABC’s Agents of Shield before landing her own show that lasted for two seasons. But the show’s “canceled” status didn’t deter fans, who aside from working to decode the clues surrounding the upcoming collaboration have petitioned Marvel to revive the show (hey, everything is getting a reboot lately). And with the frenzy surrounding the upcoming cosmetic collab, it might offer more incentive for the comic book company to bring the secret agent back to the small screen.
So what could possibly be in Agent Carter’s upcoming collection? Many of the makeup musts will likely feature a few of the tech-enhanced items Carter carried, which came courtesy of Stark Industries. Likely on the list: a powder compact featuring the same Stratton print on the one Peggy’s used to sneak a peek around corners or even a compact that houses a wheel of chic shadow shades. Another item we should definitely expect is a series of classic red lipsticks meant to flatter every skin tone, with one hue hopefully called Sweet Dreams (whose number 102 corresponds with some of the clues released) as an homage to the knockout lipstick that her nemesis Dottie Underwood used against her in the season one episode “A Sin to Err.”
I’d also love to see a double-ended pen eyeliner, with one side easily delivering a bold black wing for the eyes and maybe an invisible ink on the other end to erase any mistakes. A vintage atomizer, similar to the fire-extinguishing fragrance she used during season one, could also be an amazing addition to the cosmetic collection since the brand has already dipped its toe into the perfume pool with scents to symbolize each decade from 1910-1960. And while the Snow White collection also featured handbags (in book and bowler form) and a scarf, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a chic pair of white cat-eye sunnies (designed to protect the eyes from a light gun), a lockpicking Strategic Scientific Reserve brooch, and maybe even an elusive jewelry box may make their way into the array.
I’ve got my fingers crossed that Hayley Atwell will once again don her red hat for the campaign (or even give the collab a shoutout on her Instagram) — a fangirl can dream, right? But with more clues about the collab likely to leak until the collection makes its official debut in April, I say let the spy games begin!
