Don’t feel bad if you couldn’t make it to the Big Apple for the start of #NYFW because Christian Siriano is bringing a bit of runway glamour to the beauty counter — and for less than you think!
The designer whose gowns have graced countless red carpets has linked up with E.L.F. Cosmetics to curate a capsule collection based on his Spring 2018 collection. The pair initially came together to create beauty looks for that show, and the relationship blossomed from there. In fact, the brand will also be on hand to help realize his beauty vision for his Fall 2018 show this week, which is also is 10-year anniversary show (congrats!!!).
“Literally, I had fabrics on the table and swatches from every piece in the collection,” he told People about the collaboration. “With my team, it was like getting ready to do the collection.”
The beauty buys include a vibrant shadow palette that pulls the lush lime and rich navy that rocked the runway, rounding it out with additional jewel tones, as well as an electrified fuchsia liquid lipstick, a pale pink lip oil, and a cosmetic case to the tote them everything in. Each piece comes encased in the same magenta hue and floral prints that weaved their way through Siriano’s hothouse-inspired collection. which hits ElfCosmetics.com on Feb. 10 (so don’t expect to sleep in tomorrow if you want to snag everything before it sells out)
“I call it my psychedelic greenhouse. It’s really about this kind of dream, fantasy world,” Siriano said. “The thought is going back to the idea that we all grow in the same garden and come from the same world and same place.”
And don’t worry about breaking the bank — everything is $12 and under! It’s all a part of his own ongoing inclusivity initiative, something we’ve seen plenty of times in the past by dressing the likes of Danielle Brooks, Leslie Jones, and many more stars of varying shapes and sizes. Not to mention, his most recent runway show featured plus-size and even male models killing it on the catwalk alongside their straight-size counterparts.
The thing is, Siriano has always done an amazing job of making his designs accessible to everyone. Shortly after winning his season of Project Runway, he designed a capsule collection with Bluefly.com and had an ongoing partnership with Payless, where he offered fashion-forward footwear for the budget conscious. Then, of course, there were his Lane Bryant collections that everyone couldn’t get enough of (including myself). But he’s also got beauty experience as well! Back in 2009, he had a similar pair-up with Victoria’s Secret where he also curated a collection of runway-ready cosmetics priced at $32 and under.
“I wanted everything to be in the under-$20 world,” he said of his upcoming cosmetics collaboration. “You should be able to get something quick and easy that you can do a whole look without spending a hundred bucks.” And I couldn’t agree more — or keep my hands off of these beauty buys!
