GTL – Get the Look, not Gym, Tan, Laundry, duh!
Sunday’s night Screen Actors Guild Awards appeared to be an almost 180 of the Golden Globes‘ sea of solidarity in the form of black gowns. The sentiments of the #MeToo movement still reverberated throughout the evening with Marissa Tomei saluting Rosanna Arquette and the many others who spoke about the sexual harrassment they faced in the industry. But the 2018 SAG awards red carpet seemed to offer a hopeful look at the future, which might’ve been sparked by the high spirits after the second Women’s March just the day before, as actresses fully embraced color from the clothes to the cosmetics.
As such, I decided to dig for the details on some of the vibrant beauty looks from the stars’ hairstylists and makeup artists should you want to snag the look for a date night look, a festive formal, or anything else on your social agenda.

Jackie Cruz — Cruz’s feathered gown was the one of the most eye-catching of the evening, but the bold look didn’t stop there. Although the Orange Is The New Black actress recently snipped her strands into a pretty pixie, hairstylist Scotty Cunha took the look up a notch by adding texture throughout and adding a sparkling double-banded headband that resembled a crown. Her glowy visage came courtesy of Fenty Beauty makeup artist Priscilla Ono, who, according to her Instagram, used the brand’s Hu$tla Baby Killawatt Highlighter, and balanced the play on textures with a swipe of the new Mattemoiselle Lipstick in Spanked.

Taylor Schilling — Channeling the disco of Schilling’s DVF gown, makeup maestro Tina Turnbow crafted a gorgeous graphic eye by first prepping it with a dab of Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado before applying the silver shades of the Jafra Cosmetics’ Powder Eyeshadow Trio in Drama and its Silver Eye Pencil in the inner corner of the eyes. She added depth to the outer corner with the High Shine Powder Eyeshadow Singles in Black Diamond. To polish off her pout, Turnbow layered the Kiehl’s Facial Fuel No-Shine Moisturizing Lip Balm and Jafra’s Au Natural Full Coverage Lipstick under the brand’s Royal Jelly Luxe Shine Lip Gloss in Regal Pink. To add a more modern flair, stylist Sascha Breuer whipped up a textured French twist, letting some of the frizz fly free.

Halle Berry — I was already obsessed with Berry’s double-bound pony that mane man Castillo Bataille created for the SAG’s red carpet. But as soon as she turned around and I spotted her shorn strands at the nape of neck, I nearly died of happiness and hair envy. To ease the strand shock, makeup artist Jorge Monroy gave the actress’s lids a wash of warm chocolate brown to match her glittering Pamella Roland gown, even adding in a little inner eye highlight and a glossy nude lip to keep the shine going all night long.

Olivia Munn — Don’t let Munn’s sleek strands fool you, this style is anything but boring when placed in a sea of Veronica Lake-inspired waves like it was on the red carpet(although I adore the Old Hollywood look). Stylist Chad Wood turned up the volume by massaging her scalp with the new Hair Rituel by Sisley Paris Revitalizing Fortifying Serum and a few spritz of Ouai’s Volume Spray before blowdrying and flat ironing her strands straight and parted down the middle. He enhanced the healthy shine with a touch of Sisley’s Precious Hair Oil on the ends before sealing the style with a blast of hairspray. Although Patrick Ta kept her makeup pretty natural, I loved that he used Chanel’s upcoming Rosa Tempura Lip Pigment as both a lip color and blush — talk about multitasking makeup!

Leslie Mann — While Mann’s look was kept relatively simple in order to allow her Zuhair Murad gown stand out on its own, I couldn’t get enough of the matching cobalt on her lids. While her Instagram didn’t share any red carpet details, here’s hoping I can find out the shade name soon and snap it up for myself!

Diane Guerrero — Guerrero could’ve given Elsa a run for her money, thanks to her icy blue Christian Siriano cropped gown. But what seriously stood out beauty-wise was the origami-inspired top knot that Glen Oropeza crafted with the help of Dove’s Micro Mist Flexible Hold Hairspray. But you can’t count out the cute cat-eye and matte nude lip combo, using Fenty’s S1ngle Mattemoiselle Lipstick, Ono added to amplify Guerrero’s princess appeal.

Millie Bobby Brown — If Brown’s Golden Globes look was bitchin’, I’d have to call this one bubbly! The Stranger Things star stepped out in a sparkling pink Calvin Klein gown that she paired with a pair of Chucks (a style icon after my own heart!). She kept the mix of classy and casual going with a set of space buns kept in place with velvet ribbon (another emergining red carpet beauty trend), shimmering pink eyeshadow, and a candy pink pout.

Eris Baker — The This Is Us actress looked impeccable when receiving her first (and likely not the last) actor statue along with the rest of the cast. But Baker’s beauty look caught my eye as soon as she stepped on the red carpet, thanks to gorgeous glints of gold wire and rings that trichologist and stylist Dr. Kari Williams weaved throughout the young star’s braided updo that paired well with the cluster of ear cuffs she wore. Makeup artist Anton Khachaturian delivered a diffused neutral smoky eye and glossy lip to tie the entire look together.

Britt Baron — The girls of Glow seriously showed up in style to the SAG Awards! Serving up another slice of princess pretty, hairtstylist Gui transformed her strands into a textured updo, consisting of a low chingnon, leaving the front section out to help frame her face. Khachaturian also stepped in to create a more dramatic smoky eye, bold brows, and satiny pale lip for Baron with a mix of MAC Cosmetics and Armani Beauty buys.

Niecy Nash — Between the bright green Zeena Zaki dress, the matching eye makeup that Mila Thomas applied, and the long bob that hairstylist Ray Christopher smoothed to perfection, Niecy was a total knockout! I loved how something as simple as a deep side part could give her strands an almost asymmetrical, sci-fi bob effect.

Odeya Rush — Who knew such a pechy pink color palette could look dark, demure, and just a bit dangerous thanks to the Ladybird actress’s long waves, which came courtesy of and Dior Haute Couture dress. To mimic the gown’s geometic look, makeup artist Molly R. Stern created a graphic eye using the pink hue of the Inflame Dior 5 Couleurs Palette across her lid and softening it with the taupes and nudes from the Undress Dior 5 Couleurs Palette. Stern further defined the eye with a kitten flick of brown liner and a few generous coats of mascara. She contoured the cheeks with a blend of Golden Honey Diorskin Nude Air Tan Powder, Mimi Bronze and Rose Chérie Diorblush, and Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer, finishing the look with a peachy pink pout made up of the Rouge Dior Lipstick in Première and Bal.

Marsai Martin — Dolly’s growing up! Martin looked lovely when she showed up with the rest of the cast of Black-ish, and I couldn’t help but love the matching wash of burgundy makeupmaster Tasha Brown added to go along with her Miri Couture gown. But her strands kind of stole the show, as hairstylist Alexander Armand created what he called an “effortless bun x angled side-bang” for the young star that many are sure to copy in the coming months.
