Mother Nature has been playing games with our hearts—the winter was balmy, but we were splashed with slush on the first day of spring. Needless to say, the weather doesn’t dictate the season for me much, so I get into the spirit of spring with a spritz. Most may be in the mood for florals for the season, but not all spring scents are created equal. Some may prefer a sugar rush of sweetness while others opt for something cleaner and crisp. Regardless of your scent style, I scoured the shelves for fabulous fragrances to complement your spring wardrobe.
- Woody: Clean Reserve Velvet Flora, $90
Clean’s new cache of perfumes has a little something for everyone, but Velvet Flora is a sure standout from the collection. With notes of Green Bergamot and Jasmine Lily, most may think it would think of it as a heady floral. But it’s the Cedarwood, Moss, and Patchouli combo at the base that provide the earthy and almost masculine edge to this long-lasting, alluring aroma. - Fruity: Escada Agua Del Sol, $60
Every year Escada inspires a sweet escape with a scent that whisks you away to a tropical locale, and this year was no exception. Drawing inspiration from Costa Rica and its “pura vida” philosophy, this decadent scent is flush with fruity notes of Nashi Pear Granita, Icy Raspberry Sorbet, and Apricot Nectar at the heart of it. Now if only we could get this in the form of a daiquiri… - Floral: Capri Vince Camuto, $22-$82
Evoking the essence of the Italian isle, Vince Camuto crafted a beautiful bouquet of Peach Blossom and Violet Flower. These bright blooms rise to the top of the sweet and splashy blend, but they also stick with you throughout the day. This could easily go from desk to drinks, in case you step out with your spring sweetheart after the sun sets. - Aqua: Estée Lauder Pleasures Aqua, $65-$88
The Pleasures collection received a marine makeover for the season as Watery Accord and Ambrox add the surf and sand to the classic floral. The Freesia, Lilac, and Peony notes float along in this aquatic oasis, keeping it light and carefree like a pond in a park or garden, not a wave in the ocean. - Citrus: Dolce & Gabbana Velvet Mimosa, $225
It doesn’t get more indulgent than D&G. Amongst a collection of rich aromas, this perfume is like a drop of sunshine. Bright mimosa blossoms illuminate this blend, but a triple dose of citrus – Mandarin, Bergamot, and Neroli – add a fresh twist. A spritz of this pairs perfectly with a warm Sunday afternoon picnic. - Green: Tocca Emelia, $68
Emelia is an adventurer, and that’s what makes this scent so much fun! Fresh fruits like Loquat Fruit, Kadota Fig, and Coconut Water instantly inspires wanderlust to exotic locales but remains grounded with Bucchu Leaves, Magnolia Tree Leaf, and Fig Leaf, like a hike through forest after an April shower. - Warm/Spicy: Tory Burch Jolie Fleur Bleue, $90
Tory Burch’s latest scent is suited for a spring fling. Sensuous notes of Pink Pepper, and Amber wrap you in warmth, but the Tuberose and Jasmine Sambac Absolute add an extra layer of sumptuous splendor. A spritz of this is sure to make an amazing impression for a first date or add an air of mischief to a girls’ night out.
